At the end of the 19th century, Pere Seda founded his winery on a piece of land in the centre of Mallorca. The cultivation area is located between Manacor and Felanitx, a gigantic plain at sea level. Wind brings salty air and thus influences the Character of the grape varieties. The Spanish wines produced here have the certificate DO designation "Pla i Llevant". Pere Seda is the largest winery in Mallorca within the group of spanish bodegas with this label of origin and has received both, on national as well as international level, many awards for its great spanish wine quality.
The Ribas de Consell wine cellar, with more than three hundred years of experience in spanish wine production, is one of the oldest wineries on the island of Mallorca. The historic winery and production rooms are located in a listed mansion from the XVIII. century. The descendants of Pedro Ribas attach great importance to continuing the viticulture in his sense, with absolute respect for the land and its history. More than 40 hectares of vineyards are cultivated by hand and are among the oldest plantations with the largest variety of native grape varieties on the island. The bodega is currently working on the conversion to organic viticulture.
Son Bordils was founded in 1433 by Joan Bordils i Pont. During the second half of the 19th century it had its moment of greatest splendor. Throughout its history it has changed owners several times and they have suffered moments of non-production, but they have always managed to overcome obstacles.
It all began at the end of the last century on a small plot of land near Sencelles. Jaime Llabrés used a mixture of vines, including Prensal, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Merlot. He wanted to find out how these varieties would thrive in the Mediterranean climate and in this earth. The success spoke for itself, so that only a decade later the entire family was involved in the planting of new wines. In 2003, construction work began on a modern winery in the middle of the country, right next to the new vineyards and were completed just in time for the first harvest in autumn 2014. A new mallorcan winery with fine spanish wines was born.
At the head of Ca'n Verdura is Tomeu Llabrés Gilet, who was the first of his family to make the step from wine peasant to winemaker. The origins of Ca'n Verdura from Binissalem go back six generations. Today they dedicate themselves with great commitment the production of wines with a Mallorcan character. Exclusively autochthonous varieties such as Mantonegro, Callet and Moll are harvested.
The winery Vi Rei is the most southern located winery in Mallorca and produces distinctive wines due to the powerful combination of proximity to the sea and the nature of the soil. Historically, this region around LLucmajor is one of the first settled areas of Mallorca and already during roman times vines of excellent quality were planted here. In the 19th century, wine production almost completely came to a standstill due to a phylloxera plague. In 2014 this winery was built with the latest technology, with the aim of producing top quality wines.
Located in Binissalem, the winery was founded in 1932 by Miquel Nadal Fiol. An extraordinary winery carved into the rock provides space for 75 French and American oak barrels. A total of about 30 hectares are cultivated with the Merlot and Cabernet varieties on the estate's own land; the Mantonegro, Cabernet, Callet, Prensal and Moscatel varieties are cultivated on partner estates. The storage time in the barrels is at least 9 months for the mature wines and 2 years in the bottle for the reservas. The Camp Mallorquí cooperative is based in Consell, a small municipality on Mallorca, on the road between Palma and Inca. More than 1000 "cooperativistas" have joined forces in the cooperative to jointly promote Mallorcan agriculture and the cultivation of Majorca almonds. The cooperative mainly sells all kinds of Majorca almonds. Roasted almonds, peeled almonds, ground almonds, almonds with skin and also organic almonds. The farmers of the cooperative bring their sacks full of freshly harvested almonds to Camp Mallorquí. In the Mallorcan almond cooperative, the employees take care of the storage, cleaning, processing and distribution of Mallorcan almonds.
Can Axartell is a unique combination of tradition and modernity in Majorcan viticulture. The farm was rediscovered in the 90s, it was restored and the first vineyards began to be planted with the clear objective of making a certified organic production.
