On Majorca, the harvest of the Pomegranates or "magranes" as it is called here, usually starts in September and ends in November. But due to the introduction of new Varieties we are now able to harvest until the middle of January.
The fruit is not only beautiful to look at, but also very healthy. It is rich in potassium and contains Vitamin C, calcium and iron,among others. Underneath the leathery skin of the pomegranate, its seeds are protected by a juicy and fruity shell.
To obtain its juice, the fruit is cut in half and squeezed by means of a common lemon-juicer. The seeds, being very tasty and extremely good for ones health, can also be consumed whole.
They are delicious if combined with dessert, fruit salad or yoghurt, or add an extra of vitamins and an exotic touch to any salad. Our Pomegranates are grown without the use of preservatives and are not waxed.
