Capers are the pickled blossoms of the caper bush, commonly found in the Mediterranean area. They date back to the ancient days, where they were used as zesty condiment. On Mallorca, capers grow in dry areas close to the sea. These flowery buds are handpicked while still closed and put into a brine of water, vinegar and salt. There are big and small capers from which we offer the smaller and finer ones. The Mallorcans eat them with "pa amb oli" (toasted bread with oil) and use them as refinement for savoury sauces. They are an important ingredient for the German dish, “Königsberger Klopse” which is essentially meatballs. These spicy and nutritional blossoms lend any simple pasta dish an extraordinary aroma!
